CV - Lois Hamilton

1934 - 2010

Lois has been painting off and on for most of her life. Over the years she has taken classes at the University of Extension, from teachers such as Paul Braid, Harry Savage, Doug Berry and Robert Carmichael – All excellent Artists in her view.

Lois has taught oils and watercolour for the Fort Art Club from 1962 – 1984. She has shown in Edmonton, Calgary, Fort Saskatchewan and Sherwood Park. She has been a member of such organizations as varied as the Alberta Arts Council, Art Society of Strathcona and the original version of the Fort Art Club.

Her painting of the original Fort was chosen for presentation to the Deputy Commissioner of the RCMP during the March West celebrations in 1999. Her paintings reside in England, various venues in the USA and several across Canada.

Lois enjoyed watercolours, especially florals and scenery. “Painting is a form of relaxation (and frustration) that can bring me so much pleasure – If someone else likes what I do, that’s a bonus.” Her biggest thrill is when someone comes back, after owning one of her paintings for several years and tells her how they are still enjoying it. This makes her love of painting worthwhile and gives her the incentive to keep on painting.

Lois was granted permanent membership of the Fort Saskatchewan Art Society in 2008, and will be a permanent entry in the Membership List.
